Spring Statement Education and Skills

The 10-per-cent co-investment fee that small businesses must pay when they take on apprentices was halved from April 1. Levy-paying employers are able to share more levy funds across their supply chains, with the maximum amount rising from 10 per cent to 25 per cent.  Read More >>

SIP completes ESFA employer apprenticeship levy survey

The government announced during the last Budget, plans to engage with business and providers on the development of apprenticeships post-2020. In February, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) released a survey as part of this engagement, which was open to all apprenticeship employers, providers and representative organisations, this was completed on behalf of SIP members.

Devolved Administrations

Scotland is confident it will meet its 2018/19 Apprenticeship target of 28,000 starts. As a result, the Scottish Government is expanding the number of Modern Apprenticeship places available to 29,000 next year, meaning even more people can access a wide variety of work-based learning. This will include around 1300 Graduate Apprenticeships across 13 different subjects and up to 5000 Foundation Apprenticeship places for secondary pupils to choose alongside their other school subjects.  Read More >>
