Please note, if you need any help with data submissions there's lots of useful guidance available on our members' area
here.

It's not too late to submit your annual cost and performance data

Although the official deadline for submitting your employee and non-pay cost data was 16 August, it’s not too late! We appreciate this is a very busy time for you, so we are extending the deadline for submission. To maximise the value from your insights, you should submit your entry as soon as possible. It is also essential to complete this process if you are interested in booking a Tailored Feedback session (more on this below).

For cost data to be validated, you need to submit key financial data via the ‘Headline Financials’ module. For housing associations, a PDF version of your FVA can be uploaded and imported into the Headline Financials module, and this will count as your submission. For organisations who do not complete an FVA, or if you do not have your final accounts at this stage, management accounts can be used (please provide supporting evidence).

By taking part in this exercise, you will have access to data from more than 300 housing providers and be able to compare your costs by activity area and run year-on-year trend reports for more than 300 cost and performance measures.

If you have any questions or require support in completing the exercise, please do not hesitate to contact the Data and Research team on 024 7647 2707 or email us at data@housemark.co.uk.

Last chance for all members wishing to participate in Quarter 1 2019/20 performance data collection

In last month’s Data Bulletin we announced an extension to the Quarter 1 data entry deadline. As this has now passed, we will be making plans to close data entry for this period. Over the next two weeks we will be finalising the validation of all outstanding data, prior to the opening of Quarter 2 on 1 October. Therefore, if you still wish to participate, please complete submissions by close of play on Friday, 6 September. If you are unable to meet this date, you will need to submit your data to us in Excel, and this could mean a delay in your data being available on the benchmarking tool.

2019 Scottish Housing Charter comparison tool now available

HouseMark Scotland has launched an updated version of the Scottish Social Housing Charter interactive comparison tool, using the Annual Return data published by the Scottish Housing Regulator for 2018/19 on 30 August.

Available across the sector, the tool allows you to view social landlords’ performance over six years to explore trends and gain valuable insight.

The tool is fully interactive and provides the option to filter the results by year, landlord name or type, local authority area, stock size and average rent. It also provides the opportunity to benchmark performance against an unlimited number of peers.

For more information or to access the tool visit our website.

Book your members exclusive Tailored Feedback session

In last month’s issue we invited you to book your bespoke Tailored Feedback session, available exclusively to HouseMark members.

Why is it beneficial to book?

  • It’s tailor-made for you!
The meeting is unique to your organisation. This means you decide what you want us to focus our presentation on – this can be a specific area of your business, such as asset management, or we can deliver an overview of your organisation’s performance.

  • New perspectives for all
It’s a great opportunity to bring your senior leaders together to hear new perspectives from independent data analysts

  • Ask questions to expand your understanding
You will be able to ask questions, delve deeper into the data and understand key trends, what’s working well and the areas that could be improved.

To find out more about how other organisations have used insight from data to accelerate their improvement journey, read about Plymouth Community Homes’ experience here.

Please note, to truly get the maximum value from a Tailored Feedback session, you will need to have completed the HouseMark annual cost and performance data submission. To book your meeting, or to ask any questions about data collection or the feedback process, please contact the Data and Research team on 024 7647 2707 or email us at data@housemark.co.uk.

Sector Scorecard data collection deadline confirmed

The Sector Scorecard is an initiative to benchmark housing associations' performance and assess value for money using a small suite of easy-to-complete measures. So far this year we have collected submissions from over 100 housing associations across the UK, with initial results summarised on our Knowledge Base. Don’t forget, you can benchmark as soon as your data is uploaded by running our Sector Scorecard online reports. Please note, the early findings report and online reporting are available exclusively to HouseMark members.

If you haven’t taken part yet, the closing date for entry is 30 September 2019. A sector-wide analysis report will be published in the autumn which will highlight key trends in the sector, showing housing associations’ commitment to transparency and accountability to tenants and other stakeholders. A separate HouseMark Scotland report will also be produced.

To find out more about taking part in the exercise, please contact our Data and Research team 024 7647 2707 data@housemark.co.uk.
