Executive Insight session with the Scottish Housing Regulator

Last week we hosted an Executive Insight session with the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR). Aimed at Chief Executives, Directors and Senior Managers, these sessions provide the opportunity to speak to, shape, challenge and share ideas with key influencers in the housing sector.

Unsurprisingly, the continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit was high on the agenda, as were rent affordability and the challenges increased digitisation and innovation bring for providers. The SHR assurance statements due for the first time on 31 October loomed large in conversation, with the SHR emphasising that boards and committees should be taking ownership of their statements. For unmissable advice on how your organisation can meet the new requirements, read Kirsty’s blog: The SHR is flipping the way regulation works in Scotland – is your organisation ready?

Executive Insight sessions are available exclusively to HouseMark Scotland members. Find out about the remaining sessions for 2019 at our website.

Compare performance, explore trends and gain valuable insight with our Scottish Housing Charter interactive comparison tool

We are pleased to let you know that HouseMark Scotland has launched an updated version of the Scottish Social Housing Charter interactive comparison tool using the 2019 Annual Return on the Charter (ARC) data published by the Scottish Housing Regulator. Available across the sector, the fully interactive tool allows users to view social landlords’ performance over six years. Results can be filtered by year, landlord name or type, local authority area, stock size and average rent, and performance can be benchmarked against an unlimited number of peers.

We are delighted to offer this tool free to the sector as a contribution to supporting landlords’ drive to deliver outstanding services to tenants.

Disruption and Innovation in the Housing Sector

Join us in November as we explore how social housing is ripe for disruption and expansion of its innovation capabilities. We are hosting this event jointly with Ian Wright, Director of the highly successful Disruptive Innovation Network.

With an increasing emphasis on being prepared for change, digital transformation and understanding how disruption and innovation will impact you and your organisation, you must be able to demonstrate that you have evidence and assurance to justify decisions that may change your business model, customer experience or that help manage the risks and opportunities from new and emerging technologies.

Limited places available, allocated on a first-come, first served basis. HouseMark Scotland members will receive discounted rates.

Welcome to our new Data Analysis and Insight Manager Victoria Winters

We are pleased to welcome a new colleague to our team -  Victoria Winters is our new Data Analysis and Insight Manager and will be supporting our members in Scotland to gain the maximum knowledge and insight from their data.

She most recently worked as a Fleet Insight and Reporting Executive for Volkswagen and started her career at the Guinness Partnership, therefore she is already familiar with HouseMark and knows the housing sector well.

If members would like to discuss how Victoria could help them to gain new insights in order to make better evidence-based decisions, contact

Are you a housing association that is taking part in the Sector Scorecard?

The Sector Scorecard is an initiative to benchmark housing associations' performance and assess value for money using a small suite of easy-to-complete measures. So far this year we have collected submissions from over 100 housing associations across the UK, with initial results summarised exclusively for members on our Knowledge Base. Don’t forget, HouseMark Scotland members can benchmark as soon as your data is uploaded by running our Sector Scorecard online reports.

If you haven’t taken part yet, the closing date for entry is 30 September 2019. A Scottish analysis report will be published in the autumn which will highlight key trends in the sector, showing housing associations’ commitment to transparency and accountability to tenants and other stakeholders.

To find out more about taking part in the exercise, please contact Victoria Winters at
