Well done Craig!
Craig Fisher

Congratulations to Hearing Link staff member Craig Fisher who is nearing the end of a successful year-long internship with our charity.

Craig has excelled in the role of Digital Engagement Officer in 2018 thanks to the internship funded by The Rank Foundation and its Time to Shine grants.

He was recently presented with a Certificate of Achievement during The Rank Foundation’s major annual conference in Blackpool. Since starting his internship in January this year, Craig has not only contributed enormously to the development of our website and online shop, but also significantly enhanced our assistive listening technical advice service and our social media profile.

Dr Lorraine Gailey, Chief Operating Officer at Hearing Link, said: “Craig was a participant in one of Hearing Link’s Intensive Rehabilitation Programmes and then volunteered with us for some four years prior to the internship; so his insights into the organisation and how we can best support people with hearing loss have been invaluable. We congratulate him, and we look forward to his continued involvement in many ways in the future.”

His achievement has been documented in an article on The Big Blog Northern Ireland. To read his experiences visit: https://bigblognorthernireland.org.uk/2018/10/23/time-to-shine-craigs-story/

Come along to our remaining information sessions in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland information event

Our last two remaining information events, offering support and advice about hearing loss, are to take place in Belfast and Omagh in Northern Ireland over the next few weeks.

Our free sessions, supported by The Big Lottery Fund, are for individuals and their families wanting to find new ways to manage their hearing for themselves or a loved one.

There will be a chance to learn more about our services, as well as the latest assistive listening devices that can support hearing day-to-day. Attendees can also try some of the technology to see what works best for them.

Advanced Bionics, which manufactures cochlear implants and works with Phonak, will be on hand to provide information about cochlear implants and to answer questions for those who may be considering using these devices in the future.

Join us at the following events:

  • Wednesday 28th November, 10am-2pm: Europa Hotel Belfast, Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7AP
  • Thursday 6th December, 1pm-4pm: Tara Centre, 11 Holmview Terrace, Omagh, BT79 0AH.

Nuala Muldoon, our Northern Ireland Manager, said: “These events provide a great chance for people to get together informally and find out about simple changes that can make a big difference to their hearing and their everyday lives. We welcome anyone who is affected by hearing loss or is concerned about their hearing in any way, including family and friends and hope to see you there.”

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided for guests. A hearing loop and speech-to-text reporting will be made available to support communication needs.

To find out more about this event email our Northern Ireland team or Tel/text: 07534 563451.
