Sounding of ships’ horns: tribute to seafarers on the “Day of the Seafarer”

24 Jun 2021 / Singapore

Many countries, including Singapore, celebrate the Day of the Seafarer on 25 June. On this day, we recognise the immense contributions of seafarers around the world and the important role they play in international seaborne trade.

This year, as a special tribute to acknowledge the contributions made by seafarers to keep global supply chains resilient amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore encourages all vessels in port to sound their ships’ horns (if it is safe to do so) with a PROLONGED BLAST of 15 SECONDS at: 1200H Local Time (Singapore), 25 June 2021 (Friday).
