Island-wide quarantine curfew extended

The current quarantine curfew which was imposed on 20 August in Sri Lanka will be further extended until 0400 hrs on Monday 6 September due to the rapid spread of the Delta variant in the country. This decision was taken during the meeting of the Special Committee on COVID-19 Control convened under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning (August 27). However, essential services (including port, shipping & banking sectors), export, apparel and agricultural sectors will be allowed to function as normal during this period. Further inter-provincial travel restrictions will continue to be upheld till further notice.
