Cyclonic Storm Gulab made landfall 20km north of Kalingapatnam at around 8pm last night (26 September), crossing the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast and triggering widespread rain in the region.
The cyclone had whipped up gales smashing the coast at over 95 km per hour, but has now weakened into a deep depression over north Andhra and adjoining south Odisha coast. Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Telangana, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
Many parts of coastal and southern districts of Odisha saw very heavy rainfall.

- Impact on port operations: Inward & outward movements suspended from 1830 hours yesterday (26 September). Cargo operations completely suspended due to heavy wind/rain and poor visibility.
- Precautions: Port alerted all the working vessels to arrange additional mooring ropes and secure safely. All waiting vessels vacated from the port administrative anchorage limits and entry of vessels into port administrative limits temporarily restricted

- Impact on port operations: Inward & outward movements suspended from 1830 hours yesterday (26 September). Cargo operations completely suspended due to heavy wind/rain and poor visibility.
- Precautions: Port alerted all working vessels to arrange additional mooring ropes and secure safely. All waiting vessels vacated from port administrative anchorage limits and entry of vessels into port administrative limits temporarily restricted. Port has proposed to shift working vessels back to anchorage, but the shifting plan has not been finalised.
