Dredging at container terminals

For approximately one month, dredging operations [are being] carried out [at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals 4, 6, 7 and 8 West] in the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 20.378’N 114° 07.708’E
(B) 22° 20.325’N 114° 07.726’E
(C) 22° 20.228’N 114° 07.395’E
(D) 22° 20.437’N 114° 07.324’E
(E) 22° 20.445’N 114° 07.351’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (F) to (I), (J) to (O) with the adjacent shorelines:
(F) 22° 19.703’N 114° 07.603’E
(G) 22° 19.675’N 114° 07.613’E
(H) 22° 19.706’N 114° 07.717’E
(I) 22° 19.552’N 114° 07.769’E
(J) 22° 19.431’N 114° 07.358’E
(K) 22° 19.455’N 114° 07.346’E
(L) 22° 19.667’N 114° 07.585’E
(M) 22° 20.148’N 114° 07.422’E
(N) 22° 20.156’N 114° 07.450’E
(O) 22° 20.131’N 114° 07.457’E

The works will be carried out by one grab dredger. Two tug boats, three hopper barges and one survey boat will assist in the works. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the grab dredger will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the grab dredger.

The hours of work will be round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
