Cyclonic Storm Jawad

The India Meteorological Department has predicted that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will today (11 November) intensify into a Cyclonic Storm.

The low pressure over southwest Bay of Bengal which is likely to touch the coast of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Andhra Pradesh on 12 and 13 November.

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely to prevail over southwest Bay of Bengal and along & off Tamil Nadu & adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts. Sea conditions will be rough to very rough in the region.

Updates from ports in the region:

KRISHNAPATNAM
Heavy rainfall reported in the region. All port operations remain suspended due to inclement weather.

CHENNAI/KARAIKAL/ENNORE
Heavy rainfall continues to batter the region. Warning signal No. 3 hoisted at all ports.
Cargo operations on vessels alongside have been suspended. However, no vessels have been shifted out to safe anchor.
