Depression crosses coast

12 Nov 2021 / Bay of Bengal, India

Port operations at Krishnapatnam have returned to normal, and cargo operations resumed at Chennai, Karaikal and Ennore, after a depression crossed the north Tamil Nadu coast yesterday evening (11 November).

Overnight rain lashed Chennai for over 15 hours, flooding major roads and neighbourhood, disrupting power supply.

The depression is very likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a well-marked Low Pressure Area by today.

However, it is likely that a low pressure area will reform over the Bay of Bengal tomorrow, Saturday 13 November.
