Marine works at Black Point Power Station

16 Nov 2021 / Hong Kong

For approximately four months, marine works involving dredging, seawall reinstatement and sheet pile installation will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 24.916’N 113° 54.604’E
(B) 22° 24.985’N 113° 54.478’E
(C) 22° 25.194’N 113° 54.609’E
(D) 22° 25.095’N 113° 54.789’E

The works will be carried out by two dumb lighters. One tugboat and one guard boat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights and radar reflectors will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighters.

A silt curtain fitted with yellow flashing lights will be established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

The hours of work will be round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
