Depression crosses coast

The depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the coast between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh early this morning (19 November).

Heavy to very heavy rainfall persists over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and coastal Andhra Pradesh, with heavy rainfall at isolated places for the next 24 hours. Squally winds reaching up to 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph are likely to prevail over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and along/off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts.

Inward/outward movements at the port of Krishnapatnam resumed this morning with cargo operations set to follow.

At the ports of Chennai, Ennore and Karaikal, Warning Signal No.3 has been hoisted, but port operations continue as normal.
