Sheffield company upskills managers and expands thanks to Skills Bank

Sheffield IT company Resolve has taken advantage of part-funded training through South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’s Skills Bank as it continues on its growth trajectory.

Resolve, which provides a wide range of IT support, as well as assistance with Cloud, Infrastructure, Business Continuity, Security and compliance, is reaping the benefits of two of its staff undertaking the ALP (Accelerating Leadership Potential) course with Andy Hanselman Consulting, which was part funded by Skills Bank.  The purpose of the training was to develop the leadership and commercial skills of two of Resolve’s Team Leaders, as well as to maximise the potential and performance of the managers and their staff.  Since undertaking the training and with the advent of more home working, Resolve’s team has expanded with the addition of three IT engineers, as well as creating two new roles in marketing and solutions.

Andrew Seaton, Managing Director at Resolve, said: “The Skills Bank training has made a huge difference to our Team Leaders.  It allowed them to temporarily step back from working in the fast-paced technical team and helpdesk and to come up with new ways of working, plus enhancing their communication skills.”

He adds: “The training by Andy Hanselman was excellent and this has contributed to these staff being more motivated, having a flow of new ideas, growing their leadership potential and ultimately has led to overall better performance of their teams. This has undoubtedly resulted in the expansion of our business.”

The ALP programme, run by Andy Hanselman, is a leadership programme that helps businesses to maximise the potential of their ambitious ‘rising stars’, develop their existing managers by equipping them with the skills that will make a difference to their business now and in the future.

Nigel Brough, Investment Manager for Skills Bank said “Resolve is a very forward-thinking business that recognised the need for further training to upskill its line managers. This has made a significant impact on the performance of their internal teams, helping the business to improve the ways it works and to grow.”
