What to expect

A student of architecture and design before transitioning into womenswear, Roksanda Ilinčić’s eponymous fashion label bears the mark of her interdisciplinary training, renowned for distinctive colour blocking and structured tailoring. From shows staged at the Serpentine Pavilion to stores designed by David Adjaye, a partnership with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation to collaborations with Eva Rothschild, Caroline Denervaud, Rana Begum, and Studio Troika, Roksanda merges the boundaries between art, architecture, dance and fashion like no other. No stranger to Surrealism, her latest Frieze week collection enraptured art and fashion crowds alike, turning to Marcel Duchamp’s playful readymades for inspiration.

In conversation with our Head of Curatorial Priya Khanchandani, Ilinčić will share how she is harnessing her diverse expertise to create a platform that celebrates the equality of women whilst seeking to challenge the perceptions of traditional beauty. In dialogue with our Objects of Desire exhibition, the two will explore how her enduring love affair with art serves to reinscribe Surrealist legacies of boundary pushing fashion.
