Marine Works at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate

For approximately six months, marine works involving seawall modification and culvert installation are being carried out at the following work areas:

Work Area 1: This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:

(A) 22° 17.229’N 114° 16.158’E
(B) 22° 17.249’N 114° 16.107’E
(C) 22° 17.300’N 114° 16.139’E
(D) 22° 17.280’N 114° 16.190’E

Work Area 2: This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (H) and the adjacent shoreline:

(E) 22° 17.132’N 114° 16.097’E
(F) 22° 17.152’N 114° 16.046’E
(G) 22° 17.199’N 114° 16.076’E
(H) 22° 17.179’N 114° 16.127’E

The works are being carried out by one crane barge, one derrick barge and one dry cargo ship. Two tugboats provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each barge is established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with flashing lights laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.

Silt curtains fitted with yellow flashing lights are established within the work areas. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

The hours of work are from 0700 to 2300 hours. Vessels employed for the works stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
