Cross Harbour Swimming Races

01 Dec 2021 / Hong Kong

Swimming races across the Central Harbour from Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island to Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon will take place from 0800 hours to 1030 hours on Sunday 12 December 2021. About 1,500 swimmers, under the escort of guard boats, are expected to participate in the races.

Launches of the Marine Department and Marine Police will be stationed or patrolling in the Central Harbour before and during the event.

Masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of all vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and give a wide berth to the swimmers, and follow the directions given by officers on Marine Department and Marine Police launches regulating marine traffic in the vicinity.

As the marine traffic in the Central Harbour will be affected by the races, vessel operators are advised to adjust their sailing schedules in order to avoid obstructing the races.

Landing steps at the starting/finishing points and No. 3 to No. 5 of Kowloon Public Pier will be temporarily closed from 0900 hours on 11 December 2021 to 1200 hours on 12 December 2021. Owners and coxswains of vessels are advised to use other landing facilities in the vicinity during the period of closure.
