New Covid-19 measures

Due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the Bangladesh government has announced new measures, including the prohibition of crew leaving vessels in port.

The following restrictions come into effect from today (13 January) until further notice:

  • Screening to be enhanced at land, sea and air ports. Crews may not leave their vessels in port. Incoming truck drivers may stay only in land ports, without assistants. Entrance of visitors coming with emigrants is closed.
  • Passenger vehicles may only carry half their passenger capacity, and drivers/assistants must hold vaccination certificates.
  • Immigrating passengers must show a vaccination certificate and undergo a Rapid Antigen test.
  • Compulsory wearing of face masks in all public gatherings in shops, shipping malls, markets, including hotel restaurants.
  • Masks to be used outside the home, including offices and courts.
  • To dine in a restaurant, or stay at a residential hotel, proof of vaccination must be given.
  • Students over the age of 12 may not enter educational institutes without vaccination certificates after the date declared by the Education Ministry.
