Anomaly in ship channel

18 Feb 2022 / Corpus Christi, United States

Investigations by diving and magneto surveys have determined that the anomaly reported in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel is simply a mound of mud, measuring approximately 40' x 70'. At this time, there is nothing to suggest that there is anything metallic buried within the mound.

Callan Marine have been contracted to drag an I-beam across the mound, in a bid to pull it down. Surveys suggest that this is being successful, and drag operations will continue.

Deep draft for vessel traffic will remain at the reduced level of 42' until further notice. As additional drag work progresses, and additional water becomes available, the draft restriction will be updated.
