Towage volume-based surcharge reduced

Towage operator Svitzer has advised that the 11.2% Volume Based Surcharge (VBS) at Port Kembla has been reduced to 5% from 1 December.

The surcharge had been introduced in May 2014 to cater for volume fluctuation based on a requirement of 4,472 tug jobs per annum (2012 volumes). As the tug volume for the 12 months ended 30 October 2021 was 3,731 tug jobs, the VBS has been reduced.

The next review period will for the 12 months ending 30 April 2022, with the new VBS to be introduced on 1 June 2022.
