Marine site investigation off Kau Yi Chau

For approximately four months, marine site investigation works involving sampling of subsea soil, drilling of vibrocores, borehole and cone penetration tests will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (J):
(A) 22° 17.943’N 114° 04.719’E
(B) 22° 17.611’N 114° 04.965’E
(C) 22° 17.310’N 114° 05.790’E
(D) 22° 17.208’N 114° 05.832’E
(E) 22° 16.975’N 114° 05.561’E
(F) 22° 16.775’N 114° 02.893’E
(G) 22° 16.858’N 114° 02.884’E
(H) 22° 17.290’N 114° 03.718’E
(I) 22° 17.798’N 114° 03.685’E
(J) 22° 17.942’N 114° 03.850’E

The works will be carried out by one work boat, two flat top barges and two jack-up barges. One tugboat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 30 metres will be established around each barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.

Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of each jack[1]up barge to indicate its position.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 2300 hours including Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
