First Capesize Bulk Carrier handled

27 May 2022 / Tuticorin, India

VO Chidambaranar Port (Tuticorin) handled its first Capesize Bulk Carrier inside the port yesterday (26 May).

The vessel MV CAPE BREEZE having LOA of 292 M, Beam 45.05 M and DWT 180,000 MT, is the largest bulker to be handled at the port. She had on-board 58850 MT of limestone and 33450 MT of gypsum.

The vessel was safely berthed at Berth No.9, but as the DWT restriction is 95000 MT, she arrived with maximum cargo of 93,200 MT.

Another Cape vessel had previously called at the port, in 2015, but was handled at Tuticorin anchorage. Cargo was loaded onto a smaller ship by a floating crane and shipped to port.
