Marine site investigation at Kellett Bank and Kennedy Town

For approximately two months, marine site investigation works involving sampling of subsea soil, drilling of vibrocores and cone penetration tests will be carried out in the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E):
(A) 22° 18.346’N 114° 07.059’E
(B) 22° 17.631’N 114° 07.328’E
(C) 22° 17.632’N 114° 06.433’E
(D) 22° 18.125’N 114° 06.251’E
(E) 22° 18.342’N 114° 06.480’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (F) to (K) and the adjacent shoreline:
(F) 22° 16.976’N 114° 07.405’E
(G) 22° 17.098’N 114° 07.401’E
(H) 22° 17.211’N 114° 07.594’E
(I) 22° 17.168’N 114° 07.682’E
(J) 22° 17.208’N 114° 07.735’E
(K) 22° 17.143’N 114° 07.769’E

The works will be carried out by one work boat or one flat top barge. One tugboat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 30 metres around the barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barge.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
