Use of pleasure boats & yachts in commercial activities

20 Sep 2022 / Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi Maritime has recorded several violations for some private Marine Crafts while engaging in “commercial” activities even though they are registered and licensed under the “Pleasure - Private” category, in violation of applicable laws, regulations and licensing requirements.

This is considered a clear violation of the current and applicable regulations and decisions issued by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure concerning the registration, licensing and use of recreational Private Marine Craft, as well as the local laws, regulations and decisions issued by the Department of Municipalities and Transport and the concerned Authority in the Emirate.

All owners of Marine Crafts licensed as “Pleasure- Private” boats to abide by the type of activity stipulated in the marine craft’s license and to fully comply with the regulations and requirements in force in order to avoid being subject to the penalties and sanctions arising thereof.

Abu Dhabi Maritime, in coordination with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, will take all the appropriate measures against these violations, including banning the Marine Craft from navigation within the waters of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, detaining its license and addressing the Federal Authority to withdraw and cancel the license where necessary.
