Torrential rainfall: Port status update

23 May 2022 / Durban, South Africa

The South African Weather Service had warned of inclement weather conditions to large parts of the country last week, and as such the Kwa-Zulu Natal region has once again experienced torrential rainfall as from the 21 May 2022 which is expected to continue until 23 May 2022. The Port has not received any reports of severe damage thus far and port operations continue.

The Port of Durban has managed to secure the following Marine Resources:
- 6 Pilots
- 6 tugs (3 deployed)
- 5 berthing gangs
- 1 helicopter
- Full complement at VTS
