Weather Modification: Training Module & Atmosphere Special issue

Weather modification training module

The WxMod Expert Team developed an online training module with the COMET program on “How cloud seeding works” that presents the concepts and latest research on winter orographic cloud seeding, as well as addresses common questions and concerns about cloud seeding with silver iodide. The training module is aimed at water managers and anyone interested in learning more about the latest research and understanding of cloud seeding as a method for enhancing snowpack.  The training module is freely available online on the COMET MetEd website, takes about 45 minutes to complete and can be completed at any time.

First-time users of MetEd will need to create a free account. You can register at MetEd or contact COMET for more information.

Atmosphere Special issue

The Members of WxMod Expert Team, in collaboration with the journal Atmosphere, have announced the preparation of a Special Issue "Weather Modification and Small-Scale Geoengineering: Theory, Practice and Technology".

This Special Issue aims to uncover new findings in weather modification science, present insights from advanced weather models and experiments, explore emerging technological insights, debate the ethical implications of these technologies, and provide direction for the future development of the field. Original scientific contributions that describe experiments and modelling studies, as well as those reviewing the potential impacts and ethical implications, will be considered.

The Deadline for manuscript submissions is 10 May 2022.

Atmosphere (ISSN: 2073-4433) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal of scientific studies related to the atmosphere and is published monthly online by MDPI. MDPI based in Basel, Switzerland, has supported academic communities since 1996.
