We were delighted to present at Origin Green’s Knowledge Exchange Session, hosted at the Teeling Whiskey Company Distillery in Dublin. The focus for this event centered on Circularity and Resource Management within the Irish Food and Drink Sector. The Knowledge Exchange Sessions are invaluable opportunities for fostering collaboration, sharing sustainability insights, and learning from industry peers. This session provided a deep dive into emerging sustainability trends, equipping participants with practical and actionable strategies and project ideas. Our colleague, Aoife, discussed the packaging target reductions achieved through our Origin Green plan and the Pathways to Sustainable Packaging programme. It was also an opportunity to showcase the efforts that led to our 2024 Repak Waste Prevention Award, further reinforcing our commitment to sustainability excellence. FoodCloud is a social enterprise and food re-distribution service that connects businesses that have surplus food with Charities and Community Groups who need it most. Congratulations to Aoife, Shane, Shannon and the wider team, on winning the Waste Prevention Award at the prestigious 10th Annual Pakman Awards by Repak, Ireland’s not-for-profit organisation leading the recycling and sustainability of Ireland’s packaging. The award recognises Dawn Farm's focus on waste prevention, which include green lean initiatives such as waste segregation, recycling campaigns, our annual Environmental Day, regular Gemba walks, and B2B projects like print-on-pack packaging, 30% recycled content in pallet wrap, and reducing single-use plastics. These initiatives involved collaboration with colleagues across all departments—from Operations in both plants to Environmental, Continuous Improvement, and Sustainability teams.
