Cyber Career Pathways Event: Inspiring Future Talent

 

The highly anticipated CyberFirst Career Pathways event is took place this week on Wednesday.

 

The event offered a fantastic opportunity for pupils to engage with Sheffield Hallam Students and industry experts, discover diverse routes into cybersecurity, and gain invaluable insights into the skills and experiences that shape successful careers. We look forward to sharing more highlights and inspiring stories from the event in our next edition. In the meantime, here's some great feedback from the day.

CyberFirst Horizons

 

Working in partnership with the UK National Cyber Security Centre and the Hg Foundation, the programme aims to inspire more young people to consider a future in cyber, break down barriers to opportunity and help to address critical skills shortages across the North.

 

Designed for Year 12 students, CyberFirst Horizons offers a transformative three-week experience which equips participants with essential skills, confidence, and insight into the UK’s rapidly growing cyber and technology sectors.

 

Hosted at UTC Leeds, 50 students in week one will develop communication and presentation skills, alongside CV writing and interview preparation, with visits to University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett and the University of Law. The following two weeks will immerse them in the regional tech ecosystem through site visits, hands-on workshops, and challenges from local and national organisations.

 

The Leeds programme runs from Monday to Friday on the following dates.

📍10:00 to 12:00 & 13:00 to 15:00 each day in Central Leeds.

 

We are looking for support from our CyberFirst community on the following dates:

 

🗓️ Week 1: 6th to 10th July 2026

🗓️ Week 2: 10th to 14th August 2026

🗓️ Week 3: 17th to 21st August 2026

🚀 STEMFest Hull 2027 is officially underway!

Businesses from across Hull and East Yorkshire came together at Connexin Live, Hull for the launch of STEMFest Hull 2027, delivered by RTC North in association with HETA and Connexin.

The event marked an exciting step in bringing one of the North’s most impactful STEM engagement events to the region, connecting employers with opportunities to inspire the next generation, showcase real career pathways and help strengthen the local skills pipeline.
