Outlining innovation to Dame Angela
Our Chief Executive Dr Phil Jennings met Wallasey MP Dame Angela Eagle to outline our plans to drive healthcare innovations that benefit communities in Wirral. He described how Health Innovation North West Coast’s work can accelerate the way innovations are adopted by the healthcare system and so improve patient care. Fuel poverty work sets national example
A project to reduce the impact of fuel poverty on vulnerable people is being promoted nationally as an example of how to tackle health inequalities. Health Innovation North West Coast has led the scheme which has focused on adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and children with pre-school wheeze.
A poster that explains the work has now been adopted as part of NHS England’s Core20PLUS5 approach to reducing healthcare inequalities. Read more on our website.

Learn about Martha's Rule
A learning resource for Martha’s Rule is now available online. Martha’s Rule is a patient safety initiative to support the early detection of deterioration by ensuring the concerns of patients, their families and others are acted upon.
The e-learning resource is here. Developed by NHS England and Health Innovation West of England, it is free access and designed for anyone who wants to know more about Martha’s Rule.
Evaluation advice continues
Our Evaluation and Insights team is offering six one-hour ‘Evaluation Surgery’ consultation slots to SMEs with North West Coast links who would like to strengthen their proposition using real-world evaluation. Our experts can advise on the various strategies and approaches available. The surgeries are first-come, first-served. Email insights@healthinnovationnwc.nhs.uk for details.

DeepTech Catalyst Health programme
If you're a UK registered business, less than five-years-old, developing advanced health technologies, and base a significant part of your business in the Liverpool City Region, you may be eligible to apply for the next DeepTech Catalyst (DTC) Health cohort.
This programme forms part of the Science and Technologies Facilities Council's DeepTech Catalyst, which focuses on solutions for human infectious diseases, molecular and cellular medicines, medical device hardware and software, and mobile medical applications
The offer includes up to £50,000 of zero-equity cash funding, up to £10,000 R&D vouchers and access to technical, commercial and IP support. The deadline for expressions of interest is 8 March. The link to the EOI form can be found here.
