Trade bodies warn that new charges on imported goods from the EU will drive up food prices. Companies importing products such as sausages, cheese and yoghurt face fees of up to £145 per load from 30 April. Industry has warned the levy will be a ‘hammer blow’ to small and medium-sized importers, will hit food prices, and lead to fewer choices for consumers.
