Alabama became the second US state after Florida to ban the manufacture or commercialisation of cultivated meat. However, the FDA and USDA have pledged to “clarify and provide guidance on the regulation of cultured animal cell foods” in a wide-ranging report about biotechnology regulations in the US.

According to Reuters, Brazil has declared the country is free of foot and mouth disease without vaccination, hoping to open the country to open more markets for meat exports by requesting the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) to recognise the status.
