01 What disease do cucumbers and turtles have in common?

The answer is salmonellosis … a Salmonella Braenderup outbreak across 34 states linked to cucumbers has ended after 551 illnesses. But a new outbreak of two types of Salmonella, Stanley and Poona is spreading across the country caused by small turtles.

02 FSIS adds H5N1 testing to beef surveillance

As the H5N1 outbreak in the US dairy herd continues, the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) will begin monitoring dairy carcasses for the virus alongside other routine tests.

03 Recall roundup: plant burger burn-risk and metal in chicken

Amongst product recalls this week have been plant-based burgers due to the risk of causing mouth burns, and 75 tonnes of chicken nuggets due to metal contamination.

04 Patient count rises in deadly outbreak linked to micro-dosing edibles

Further illnesses have been reported in the outbreak linked to micro-dosing edibles. This brings the total of illnesses to 145 across 29 states with 59 people hospitalised and two deaths reported.

05 Irish beef farmers launch new sustainability initiative
